Assists Per 40 Minutes

Assists Per 40 Minutes (A/40) is a basketball statistic that measures how many assists a player would record if they played 40 minutes. It’s a way to standardize assists across players with different amounts of playing time. For example, if a player averages 5 assists in 20 minutes of playing time, their A/40 would be 10 (5 assists / 20 minutes * 40 minutes).

A/40 helps compare players’ playmaking abilities more accurately, regardless of how many minutes they actually play in a game.

Calculation:

It’s calculated by dividing the player’s total assists by their total minutes played, then multiplying by 40.

Example:

If a player has 8 assists in 24 minutes, their A/40 would be (8 / 24) * 40 = 13.33.

Context:

A/40 is often used in conjunction with other statistics to evaluate a player’s overall offensive contribution.
