BIOGRAFIJA

Kada su Rochester Royals izabrali Nejta Arčibalda na NBA draftu 1970. godine, činilo se da sudbina ima plan za bivšu zvezdu Harlema jer je odlazak u Rochester značio da će za trenera imati legendarnog Bob Cousy-ja, koji je u to vreme držao rekord po broju asistencija na jednoj utakmici (28).

On je usadio Archibald-u mentalitet da je tim na prvom mestu, što je bilo lako prepoznatljivo na terenu. U 13 sezona u ligi, Nate je prosečno imao više od sedam asistencija i preko 18 postignutih poena po utakmici. Postao je prvi igrač u istoriji NBA koji je predvodio ligu I po broju poena i broju asistencija (u sezoni 1972-73 imao je prosek od 34 datih poena i 11,4 asistencija po utakmici). Uprkos značajnom učinku, Rochester ga je 1976. godine trejdovao u New York Nets-e, a nakon kratkog boravka u Velikoj jabuci, pridružio se Boston Celtics-ima. Godine 1981. When Nate Archibald was selected in the second round of the 1970 NBA Draft by the Cincinnati Royals, scouts just hoped the 6-foot-1-inch guard from the University of Texas-El Paso could handle the NBA game, let alone stay in the league for a few seasons. „Tiny“ Archibald managed a lot more than that. Although shy and diminutive, Archibald proved to be unstoppable in the lane, a pinpoint passer with eyes everywhere, and an outside shooter with unlimited range. He lasted 14 seasons, was a six-time NBA All Star, and a three-time All-NBA First Team performer. Archibald’s game, a potent mix of penetration, shooting, and passing, became the standard for players of his size and ability. In 1972, Archibald’s first season with the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, he averaged 34 points and 11.4 assists per outing, becoming the only player in NBA history to lead the league in those categories in the same season. Archibald established once and for all that the little man still belonged in professional basketball.
